At its annual planning retreat in September, the Board of ArborOne Farm Credit recognized James “Mickey” Ward for his service as the Chairman of the Board for the past 11 years. Ward commented that he looks forward to continuing to serve as a very active board member. After thoughtful consideration, he decided that the succession of another board member to serve in the capacity of Board Chairman was appropriate.
CEO Kathy Heustess presented Mickey with an award in appreciation of his many years of service as Chairman. Heustess noted, “Mickey’s leadership qualities, commitment, and accessibility as board chairman have been invaluable to me. I admire him as a board member and as a farmer who has a deep knowledge of farming and a love of tilling the land.”
Mickey Ward is from Florence County and has served on the ArborOne Farm Credit Board since 1998 and as chairman for the last 11 years. As chairman, he also served on all board Committees. Mr. Ward was most recently re-elected in 2012 and his term expires in 2018, at which time he will run for re-election. Mr. Ward has been farming for over 45 years, and his operation includes timber, cotton, corn, and soybeans. He previously served on the Southern States Advisory Board, FSA Committee, and Tobacco Marketing Review Board. Mr. Ward and his wife, Barbara, are members of Palmetto Street Church of God in Florence.
The board, management team, and staff at ArborOne Farm Credit thank Mickey for his generous and valuable service as Chairman and look forward to continuing to work with Mickey for many more years!
