ARBORONE FARM CREDIT RESPONDS TO HISTORIC FLOODING,
ENCOURAGES FARMERS TO REPORT DAMAGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Florence, SC –In light of the historic flooding and tragic devastation wreaked on the Pee Dee and Grand Strand regions, ArborOne Farm Credit encourages its borrower-owners and other members of the farming community to stand strong in the recent crisis.
“ArborOne and Farm Credit have been around for 100 years, and no matter the crisis—the Great Depression, Hurricane Hugo, and World Wars--we are still Farm Strong,” said Kathy S. Heustess, President and CEO of ArborOne Farm Credit, based in Florence. “Farmers are by nature resilient people, and together we will make it through this grave situation. We want them to know that ArborOne is poised and ready to help them at each and every step of their recovery.”
Heustess noted the importance of communication as farmers are able to return to their operations. “You’ve got to talk to your crop insurance agents, file your claims as soon as possible,” Heustess stressed. “And talk to your loan officers, too. They are here to help you figure out solutions.”
While emergency help was already available for drought-stressed farmers in many Pee Dee Counties through the Farm Service Agency (FSA), it has yet to be determined what, if any, additional assistance will be available in light of last week’s flooding. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will notify our customers of any and all opportunities for assistance,” Heustess said.
As the waters recede, ArborOne employees are looking out for their fellow citizens, too. Currently, staff at the Florence office is collecting toiletries and other items for displaced citizens in Kingstree, who may be without homes for months. “I am honored that my fellow staff members are reaching out to help my hometown in this way,” said Ashley Langmo Bell, a credit analyst at ArborOne who is originally from Kingstree.
ArborOne also plans direct assistance to displaced citizens in other hard-hit counties such as Clarendon and Horry. For more information about ArborOne, please visit www.arborone.com
