ArborOne has recently been made aware of borrowers within our district being contacted by someone claiming to be from AgFirst (our parent bank) and requesting payment on overdue accounts. The caller ID was 800-845-1745 which is one of AgFirst’s toll free lines. This caller either leaves a message to contact a number, in this case it was 940-488-6690, or will attempt to con the user into paying some amount of money.
Please be vigilant as these types of threats are on the rise. The scam is an attempt to get victims to wire money to the fraudster. Once the money is gone, it often cannot be traced. Consumers shouldn't give out personal and financial information over the phone and should only speak with known contacts within ArborOne. If you believe a fraudulent caller has called about your ArborOne accounts, contact your local branch office. You may also report this suspicious activity to the Federal Trade Commission on the Internet at ftc.gov.
